Kenyatta University’s Department of Architecture proudly celebrated its 10th Anniversary under the theme “Dialogue on the Future of Architecture in Kenya.” The two-day event, held on 9th and 10th September 2026 at the ILCC Building, Kenyatta University, brought together students, academics, practising architects, industry professionals, and key stakeholders in the built environment.

The anniversary provided an opportunity to reflect on a decade of architectural education, innovation, creativity, and professional development while looking ahead to the future of architecture in Kenya. Through dialogue and engagement, participants explored emerging trends, opportunities, challenges, and the evolving role of architecture in shaping sustainable communities and the built environment.

The event featured distinguished chief guests, including Arch. Steve Oundo, President of the Commonwealth Association of Architects, and Arch. Jerry Ndong’, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the African Union of Architects, immediate former president Arch. Florence Nyole and the current president Arch. George Arabbu Ndege of the Architectural Association of Kenya.

The celebration also recognized the contributions of past and present departmental leadership, partners, professional bodies, institutions, and stakeholders whose support has contributed to the growth and development of the Department of Architecture over the past decade.

The 10th Anniversary marked not only a celebration of the Department’s journey, but also a renewed commitment to excellence in architectural education, meaningful professional dialogue, innovation, and shaping the future of architecture in Kenya.
