Mr. James Wanyoike is a lecturer at the Department of Spatial Planning and Urban Management, School of Architecture and the Built Environment, Kenyatta University. He is a Spatial Planner with a vast working experience on spatial data modelling and analysis for urban and regional planning. This encompasses the preparation of site plans, zonal plans, and integrated regional development plans. He has a special bias on the use of geographical information systems and visualization technologies in Spatial Planning. James holds a Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Nairobi and a Bachelor’s degree in the same field from the University of Nairobi. He previously worked at the University of Nairobi as an instructor and also as a researcher at the Centre for Urban Research and Innovations (CURI). His private practice includes consultancies at Prolak Designs, Architects, and Managers. He has also worked on various community planning projects with an array of community based organizations, non-governmental organizations, and county governments such as the Ford Foundation, UN-Habitat, International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Slum Dwellers International (SDI), Muungano Support Trust (MUST), and Kiambu County Government.
