School of Architecture and the Built Environment aim is to meet the high demand for well trained professionals in the building sciences which is acutely high, while the supply of such professionals is dismally low. The scenario is made dire when we consider the rate of urbanization and the demand for skills in the built environment.
Thus there is an urgent need for the establishment of a school that has responsive programs that will seek to train skilled manpower to facilitate the realization of sustainable urban and other human settlements within the context of rapid population growth and globalization. The school of Architecture and Spatial Planning is guided by this goal and seeks to contribute positively to the training of specialized manpower to gradually ameliorate and eventually find solutions to the challenges that currently bedevil the built environment sector both locally, regionally and globally.
