The School of Architecture and the Built Environment’s (SABE) goal is to provide quality training to meet the ever rising demand of building and planning professionals both locally and internationally. The school’s mandate is part of the local actions aimed at effectuating sustainable human development goals as envisaged in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs-2015). Specifically the school aligns to the following SDG goals;
· Goal No. 1; To “End poverty in all its forms everywhere”,
· Goal No. 4; To “Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promotion of lifelong learning opportunities for all”,
· Goal No. 9; To “Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation” and
· Goal No. 11; To “Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable”
Locally, the school meets the objectives of Kenya’s Vision 2030 development blueprint to train well qualified manpower to achieve integrated planning and management of the built environment that meets the ever growing expectations of a progressive future urban population. To achieve these goals, the school offers undergraduate degree programs in Bachelor of Architecture, Bachelor of Science in Spatial Planning, Bachelor of Science in Construction Management and Bachelor of Science in Real Estate.
